The CNC Journey Begins
In the summer of 2004 I bought the plans for the Phoenix CNC router from John C. Kleinbauer and constructed the machine in my uncle’s wood-shop (you don’t really need a well equipped wood-shop to build it but I didn’t have any real tools at all at the time). Once completed the machine served me well. It was controlled by a Piker 4X controller (also from John Kleinbauer, but now discontinued) and an old PC I had laying around.
The original machine:
This is a picture of a Plexiglas biplane I made using some plans I found online and a piece of 3/4 inch thick oak I pocketed with the first two characters of my handle (ten and sai) on the Phoenix.
